The Graduate Program in Nursing at the State University of Maringá

The Graduate Program in Nursing at the State University of Maringá (Programa de Pós-graduação em Enfermagem/Universidade Estadual de Maringá-PSE/UEM) obtained Concept 5 by the last CAPES assessment (2014-2017), which characterizes national excellence for Master’s and Doctorate courses. Its area of concentration is Nursing and the Care Process, and its courses are aimed at training qualified personnel for higher education and research activities, with the aim of training researchers, professors and clinical nurses, who can contribute to the excellence of care practices, from a critical point of view, from a methodical, communicational, socio-political and technical nature focused on health promotion. The PSE is made up of teaching and research activities, in a systematic and organized way, leading to obtaining the academic degree of Master and PhD.

The objectives of the PSE are:

Train researchers, professors and clinical nurses, who can contribute to the excellence of care practices, based on a critical view, a methodical, communicational, socio-political and technical nature focused on health promotion;

Offer graduate students critical (advanced) training in nursing, based on knowledge derived from research and practice, enabling them to practice scientific research;

To form qualified human resources to meet the needs of health education institutions;

Train human resources capable of working in health care and management, qualifying them to act as builders of new care models.

  1. Health care in different life cycles

It brings together working groups that study care for the individual, the family and the community in different life cycles. Its projects seek to diagnose the difficulties in performing daily health care in different life cycles, as well as the intervening factors of this care, in order to finally provide subsidies that underline nursing care.
